Pitney Meadows Benefit Show

It's been a long while since I hunkered down and created something I can actually call "art." Although cooking, raising little ones and holding together a marriage is an art too, I still need the occasional affirmation that my college degree wasn't a waste of time.

I created this as part of a group benefit show to raise funds and awareness for the Pitney Meadows Farm in Saratoga Springs. It's inspiration is drawn directly from the farm's gardens and continues my interest in miniature and paper arts. It is currently on display at Spring Street Gallery through March.

Trask Memorial Fundraiser

A recent benefit auction for the Spirit of Life & Spencer Trask Memorial in Saratoga Springs NY (http://www.spiritofliferestoration.org/) inspired me to sit down and paint a new watercolor. So over a few hour long sessions in between gardening, I worked up this bright little landscape of Saratoga Lake. 

Although this did not sell during the silent auction, it did go a buyer in Texas a few weeks later.

Public Painting Experiment

This is what I started with...

So my boyfriend and I recently received a gift certificate to one of those "paint while you drink" places that are so trendy right now. I'm sure it was a very well intended gift meant to get us out on a date and do something they knew I would relate to. Well let me say that I went into the class with much skepticism and came out with even more...

Nonetheless I made the best of the situation by going "rogue" as they called it and created my own scene using the basic primary palate given to me on this plastic plate. Keeping in mind, I never paint in acrylic, so this was really a stretch in every way.

Knitting Is Good For The Soul

To help pass time and create affordable gifts for my friends, I have been practicing my knitting skills. I figure why not?! As long as I'm working with my hands, I'm happy :)

Debut at Spring Street Gallery in Saratoga

My new home in upstate New York has proved to be the fresh creative start that this artist has been sorely missing.

These etchings were made possible due to the generosity and expert tutelage of my good friend Dave Gesualdi, who is nothing short of a print master.

Garden Installation @ The Danbury Historical Society

 This idea is based on a Chinese wishing tree. I've always loved the effect in other tourist locations where I have seen it. This much smaller scale version is about 7 feet tall made out of an antique plant stand, wrapped wire, fabric, and locally found stones.

Miniature Bug Worlds

Gouache on mat board, rocks, rattan, found insects, moth sachet, glue.

This is the first in a series where I created a miniature world inside of a shadowbox frames. The cicada as well as the exoskeleton was found by a co-worker. It's been pinned and the head of the needle disguised with paint. The painted rocks are simply my own whimsey as i seem to like creating rocks with personality in sketches.

This one includes a friendship rock and is now in the collection of that friend who gave it.

My first project in Flash

This is from my first couple of days messing with Flash. I think I'm getting the hang of it!

In case you're wondering, the concept idea for this project was entirely written by someone else, I'm just drawing it as they have requested. The bear is naturally my favorite part, so naughty but cute.

I cheated and traced a photo of a real garbage can. So sue me.
