Garden Installation @ The Danbury Historical Society

This idea is based on a Chinese wishing tree. I've always loved the effect in other tourist locations where I have seen it. This much smaller scale version is about 7 feet tall made out of an antique plant stand, wrapped wire, fabric, and locally found stones.

This is my original sketch for the idea.
An article on the entire garden and other artists involved in this occasion is featured on www.TheMercurial.com

Miniature Bug Worlds

 "Overlook"
  12" x 6"
Gouache on mat board, rocks, rattan, found insects, moth sachet, glue.

This is the first in a series where I created a miniature world inside of a shadowbox frames. The cicada as well as the exoskeleton was found by a co-worker. It's been pinned and the head of the needle disguised with paint. The painted rocks are simply my own whimsey as i seem to like creating rocks with personality in sketches.

"Rock Buddies"
Approximately 8" x 10"
Gouache on mat board, rocks, rattan, moss, dried flowers, found insects, moth sachet, glue.

This one includes a friendship rock and is now in the collection of that friend who gave it.
